Jen Dera

Hi. Welcome to If The Card FIts! My name is Jen Dera. I got the bug for scrapbooking nearly 10 years ago with a small baby book for my oldest son. It was a creative outlet after spending a few years in the computer industry. I began teaching a variety of scrapbooking classes about 7 years ago when I was approached by the owner of a local scrapbook store.

I have designed and taught a wide variety of classes over the years, but my card classes by far were the most popular. I think the adhesive only needed concept drew in crafters and scrapbookers of all levels. As time went on, students expressed an interest in a kit if they were not able to make the class. It was at that moment that the kit concept was born.

When I'm not scrapbooking and designing cards, I write 2 columns for Michigan Scrapbooker Magazine and keep busy with my three children, Ethan, Dylan, and Shelby and play house with my husband and best friend, Denny. We have an active house with 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 birds and a fish pond. Yes, it's the Dera Zoo, but it keeps me on my toes and there is never a dull moment.

Andrea Corriveau
My name is Andrea Corriveau, and I've been "paper crafting" for about 11 years now. It all started when I bought a rubber stamp, an ink pad, and a bottle of embossing powder; I had no idea that i needed a heat tool to set the embossing powder, so I ended up holding my stamped image up to my iron to melt the powder!

I started visiting my local scrapbook stores, and was asked to teach my first class back in 2002. I have taught a wide variety of classes, from altered art to rubber stamping to scrapbooking to cards...and I have enjoyed every one of them! Never did these classes seem like a "job" to me, and I have always felt blessed to share my creativity with others. If, at the end of the day, my hands aren't covered in inks or adhesives, I haven't played enough!

When I'm not busy with my supplies, I'm CEO of the Corriveau household, which consists of my husband Ed, my children Ashleigh, Noah and Madison, our four cats and our two fish. I also spend time volunteering at my children's schools and holding two part time jobs. It's a crazy, hectic, "fly by the seat of my pants" kind of life...but I love every minute of it!
